No grades, no tests, just have fun while learning. It’s a great way to exercise that brain during the summer! Educational experiences and adventures take place in this exciting NEW track. This is not like school! We’re experiencing learning through adventures and experiments.

This track is aimed at 10-13 year olds or generally a 5th -7th grade level. We also believe in having an exercised body as well as an exercised mind, so recreational camp activities will be offered on our ropes course and waterfront.

This all takes place in the intensely spiritual environment that is Camp Piankatank. Field trips are optional, but highly recommended to get the full experience of this track.

History Focus: We’ll explore life in early America with a guided tour in Colonial Williamsburg. Colonial Williamsburg is about a 45 minute drive away from the camp, we will travel by van and stay together as a group. While there we will explore

We will focus on later years of U.S. history through short biographical readings and skits from western settlers and the civil war period.

Science Focus: Our location makes for a perfect environment to explore the ecosystems of a river and swamp. We will also talk about Astronomy as we explore the night sky that is absolutely beautiful from camp.

Math: We only briefly touch on math, as it is a subject that is a lot more grade specific. We will play a few math practice games.

Reading: We do several readings from our history and science subjects. Reading comprehension will definitely be practiced. Kids will also get to write a short skit or story about our history readings. We have an optional suggested pre-camp reading that you might consider reading at home before camp (this is completely optional).

Camp Recreation: It just wouldn’t be camp if you couldn’t climb the rock wall or canoe on the river! A daily recreational activity will be offered like Rockwall, V-swing, canoeing, and swimming.

NOTE: We must have a minimum of 8 campers sign up for this track in order to run it. If we don’t meet that minimum, we will contact you and give you the option to switch to another track.
